Saturated fats

All the carbon atoms are linked by single bonds.
Each carbon holds as many hydrogens as they can.

Fats containing a high proportion of saturated fatty acids are solid at room temperature.

They are usually derived from animal sources e.g. lard, suet and butter.

However some vegetables and nuts are high in saturated fats as well : palm, coconut, avocado, peanut...

You do not want to eat to much saturated fats since they are known for hardening arteries and increasing the blood pressure.
