Tamari, Shoyu or teriyaki

Soy sauces are a dark brown liquid made from soybeans that have been fermented. They have a salty taste

Tamari is made solely from soybeans
Shoyu is a blend of soybeans and wheat.
Teriyaki may include sugar, vinegar and spices.
The sauce may also be thicker than the other soy sauces.

The fermentation for shoyu and tamari takes one to three years.

Be careful, much of the soy sauces available in supermarkets are made with chemicals and caramel coloring, corn syrup... in order to limit the fermentation time. They are not true soy sauces.
